The new war zone

I am beginning to realize that civilian life is becoming the new war-zone. Yes there are war’s being fought all over the world as we speak/sleep but the number of people killed as a result of war is paltry compared to the number of people killed in peace.

The soldiers of this new war are the reluctant hero’s of a new reality. A teacher dies protecting the children in her classroom, a fireman dies rushing in to stop a fire (the person who set the fire was waiting with a gun…), a policeman on a routine investigation, a schoolbus driver who was killed when somebody stormed his bus and kidnapped a child.

Where are we the safest then. in the military?

The answer, as always, is “Depends!”

Uncertainty, and the unknown is always the adversity. Security can only come from the community we live and work in. Help can only come from somebody we know. Somebody who would stand up for us.

Security can only come from standing up for somebody. Even if it is yourself…
