I reached my target weight of 75.0 kilo’s today…74.6 actually…
For the longest time I have said, “Before I got married I wanted to be 75 kilos (I was 73.1) and worked out long and hard; after marriage the target has been the same but I was coming at it from the other side!”
I cant believe how easy it was, when I finally got down to it. I set a deadline, and then I missed that deadline…that’s it…
The deadline I had set for myself (five years) was the 29th of February 2012. And it hurt so bad when I missed it. In five year I cant lose five kilo’s. I had tried hard throughout that time. Working out heavy, coming back tired. 29th February it became vendetta. I had to reach my goal.
What really surprises me was how easy it was. There are only a few changes I made…
- Reduced my white bread consumption
- Increased my protein consumption
- Changed my number of meals to 4 (a snack at 4:00pm)
From an exercise perspective I really did not do much. I set myself a goal that I am not going to let my heartrate go above 85% in my workouts. I bought myself a heartrate monitor that connected to my iphone and that was more or less it.
On an average I was only exercising only about 1.2 times a week. I now feel…
- Healthier
- More energetic
- My Blood pressure has gone down
- I hit my pulse rate targets too
- And my stomach is flatter
So I struggled with the guilt for five years and smashed it in three months. There’s a learning here.
- What you measure you will see (I started keeping logs)
- Change (that I want) requires change (in what I do)
- A goal set in stone is a goal met
- If you do the small things needed, the big things take care of themselves
Which brings me to my next goal…but then that’s another story…
