Wired magazine…have to read it cover to cover

There are very few magazines that interest me enough to read them in detail. Today my list is 2 magazines…

The first is IEEE Spectrum. This is one magazine I read in detail, cover to cover, I even read all the ads. This magazine has pretty high technical content but in the past few issues there has been the sprinklings of political, and social items that cant really get a scientific view that is scientific enough. But the magazine is still good enough to read cover to cover.

A new one to the list is Wired magazine. I have read articles from wired a few times but more recently I started subscribing to it. I subscribed because there was a great deal on it. $1 an issue makes it worth it. Then I realized what I was missing. This is one magazine that covers it all, and remains technical through it. I like a magazine that takes a position and stands by it. Wired is one such magazine.

A bonus that I found out today is that if you have a print subscription, the ipad (and kindle etc) edition is free. This makes it the only magazine that I have seen that does that and a huge plus. I have been disappointed with the online magazines which have essentially raised the prices by going online. I would like to subscribe to digital only editions, but not when the digital edition costs me more than the print edition.

Wired is also the organizer of the TED Conference. It figures. I’m hooked. Wired joins the list of must read magazines.

Now if only Harvard business review would bring it’s prices down…That’s another magazine that I enjoy reading.
